Home Attendance

Attendance

At Willow Park School, we believe that every day counts. Regular attendance gives pupils the best opportunity to learn, build confidence, develop friendships and reach their full potential.

At Willow Park, attendance is not an administrative target. It is the clearest signal we have of a child’s hope for the future. Every day in school is a day of relationships built, skills learned and doors kept open. We know the path to regular attendance is not always straightforward for the young people we serve, so we work closely with parents and carers to remove the barriers in the way and make sure every pupil can belong, commit, and achieve.

This page explains our approach to attendance, shares our latest attendance figures, and provides information and guidance for families. By working together, we can give every child the best possible opportunity to succeed.

Our Multi-Tiered Approach

At Willow Park, we recognise that attendance difficulties often reflect anxiety, unmet needs or barriers to feeling safe and connected at school.

Our Waves of Provision ensure that every pupil receives the right support at the right time. All pupils access Wave One support through trusted relationships, predictable routines and emotional regulation. Where a pupil has been absent for a significant number of days, staff work with the pupil, family, professionals and Local Authority to consider additional Wave Two or Wave Three support.

This is not a punitive process. It is a collaborative, trauma informed approach focused on understanding barriers, listening to the pupil and creating a personalised plan to improve engagement and attendance.
